sosaytheWOLVES: OG Maco x Key! FallOut (the rundown)

On the OG Maco x Key! situation. If you’ve been paying attention to their relationship then this comes as no surprise and more like something that was slowly coming to a head. key-og-maco-grungecake-thumbnail From the beginning of the push of Give Em Hell there seemed to be tension. We definitely saw Key! as the front runner where as Maco, at least at first, seemed to be the one benefiting the most from the collaboration. One could argue that this is still the case. Throughout the scene it seemed as though Key! felt that way as well and was a little less than shy about letting it be known. A little jab here and there until he eventually stated outright that he and Maco were not, never have been, and never would be friends and that this was just a business decision in which he felt he was basically getting the short end of the stick (ie. I benefit him far more than he benefits me type of attitude.) Key!’s sentiment seemed to come as a surprise to Maco who up until that point seemed to believe them to be friends with people around them claiming that there was no reason to think other wise. Even during an interview with Complex Magazine Key! states that he actually has no reason to dislike Maco. He just doesn’t. He even goes on to state that Maco at one point makes the attempt to find out what he may have done to rub him the wrong way in which Key! just replies “You know, it’s just like if we work at McDonald’s and I don’t like my co-worker.” The whole situation seemed strange. Like why would someone create a smash hit with you and right before the hit goes supernova jump ship. It almost seems crazy like some sort of career suicide but alas Key! proceeds to find his own level of fame with the title track from the very same project! I guess the mumbles became to loud for Maco because he decides to take it from being a suedo beef to full blow rap diss on the Key! attacking track “Fat Fuck”. I’m not sure what set him off but he follows it up with a full blown twitter rant that seems to last about half a day with him having to deal with the fall out which included everything from people expressing his same sentiment to the many fans of Key! coming to his defense. What could have made him finally snap I don’t know but I will end my little run down by saying this. I kind of feel like it should end here. I know people from both camps and we know everyone is down to get crazy so lets just leave it at that. We know you guys are both real and will take it to the streets and none of that is needed because at the end of the day there really is no beef. Sometimes people just don’t mesh well together and that’s cool. We’ll end this on a positive not with the OGG come-up documentary that they recently released. Get to know the guys. #sosaytheWOLVES
