EarthGang x 6lack x J.I.D. – BatMan Smells

Spillage Village came in to drop off a little christmas cheer. This one ranks pretty high on the experimental scale for them them if I do say so myself. Really cool stuff. Can’t wait for that International Sad Boyz @EarthGang / @6LACK / @SlickSixJID

Spillage Village – Bears Like This

tumblr_n0kxheVGk31qi49mwo1_1280Words from the Spillage Village. This project gets right to it which I though would be a must for the six track project until about halfway in. Contrary to it’s track count it actually seems quite full for this audio which clocks in at a little over 30 min. I believe one reason for this is the cast. Spillage Village consists of EARTHGANG, J.I.D., JordxnBryant, and Hollywood JB. We are quite familiar with the first two but not so much with the later but we did assume (and with good reason) that if they were anything like these guys they would be anything but boring. We we’re very pleasantly surprised that they could hold there own with their lyrically nimble counter parts and with the added backing from miss Marian Mereba & Shelanese (Who I assumed was a hostess) the whole tape seemed full and bare at any moment. Smooth and fun are the words I use to describe this one. Even with many of the serious and introspective tones some of the music may take you always end up finding your self giggling at a witty line or character driven inflection. Go ahead and put this one in the rotation. Bears like this and so do wolves! And we’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for JordxnBryant & Hollywood JB from now on. @EarthGang / @SlickSixJID / @Hollywood_JB / @JordxnBryant

JID – Para Tu

And here JID out of the Spillage Village gate with Para Tu. JID has been making his rounds in the city and hitting stages for a little second. Careful putting this young one on stage before you at a show less he may still your shine.(we’ve seen it happen) Yeah they boy goes hard in the paint. For us one of his biggest talents seems to be his ability to change styles and levels of aggression seemingly mid bar. To make a lazy comparison it’s almost as if Cali asked the question “Kendrick Lamar?” and Atlanta answered back “JID”. I’m not saying JID is the next Kendrick or anything like that just an observation that we are looking at a similar skill set here. You really don’t need to get to far into Para Tu to realize that EarthGang don’t run with no chump and by not to far I mean track 1. Para Tu is basically JID rapping and even though he has released projects before this this one feels like a new coming out while at the same time feeling like only a sample. Definitely enjoyed this romp but I would like to see JID attack a larger concept possibly. Maybe a little storytelling? Maybe a little concept? Something for the hardcore fans to dangle over the head of the average listener. S/O to the whole Spillage Village ensemble @SlickSixJid / @EarthGang

EarthGang – Shallow Graves For Toys

artworks-000052385222-su1sbq-t500x500 We a little late on this one but we here. Shout out to Spillage Village cause EarthGang did their thing on this one. This is an album. Not a mixtape. You can tell that care was taken when it came to the creation of this project and yes I’m going to make the lazy Outkast comparison and I mean that in the best way possible. You have two extremely creative minds here working in tandem and is extremely rare that the sync works this well. At this point we are just waiting for someone to snatch these dudes up because this may just be the most label worthy project to drop from an unsigned artist in the A in a while. There is definitely a sound here. Charismatic verses carry the majority of the audio. We don’t really get a true hook from them until track 4 (No Peace) but with lines like “Whole f**kin’ generation is abortion survivors.” the star is still their lyrical capability. This is not to say that the boys can’t give us choruses. Quit the opposite. They seem to save them. If the Machete hook isn’t one of the most catchy tunes you’ve heard in your life I’ll eat you! And if the DJESUS IS BLACK break at the beginning didn’t make you smile even a little you going to hell for lying. Nearing the end of the project you start to realize you’re listening to music. It’s funny and serious, thought provoking and mind numbing. It’s whatever you thought it was. (I thought about only featuring a premiere track and then I thought, like every other project we’ve covered, this should be experienced as a whole but if you don’t have that kind of time. I would recommend jumping to DJESUS IS BLACK.) @EarthGang
