Far Out Family – #PINCKNEY

We were apart of the launch process so it’s only right that we get to speak on the mixtape as a whole and this is a mixtape in the sense of the word we once used. Lil Wayne style. sort of. Now a days when someone mentions “mixtape” they could be speaking about any form of music in project form from an artist. Not to long ago a mixtape was more so used when an artist hopped on the production already used by another and that’s what this is. The Far Out boys (and friends) jump on production from everyone from Curtis Williams to James Blake. This was a fun listen and it seems like we may be getting more of the as the cover art states “Far Out Family Reunion Series…” We get some really bomb verses on here from everyone involved and even little moody point from an untitled secret artist but what we also seem to get is a turning point from Bias the Black were we are getting a little singing sans rap. Such as the intro and outro where we have a singing Bias with a rapping Glenn which could make for some cool future stuff. I would have liked to see their guitarist the Living join in to aid in some of the production but this was a really cool side project to prepare us for what’s up next. @FarOutFamily

Money Makin’ Nique – Jill Scott Tits

Because it’s hilarious that’s why! Just like this title Nique brings us much joy and laughter on twitter. He keeps it too real if that is such a thing. This track is brought to you by a really cool blog by the name of The Original Mattress who has been doing a good job of shining light on some of our slept on artist of the scene. I mean Nique does a number on this one “room be filled with gods don’t you be breathing out that peasant shit”. Stellar. We are really digging this one Nique. S/O to the whole Money Makin’ Bros. establishment. Now if we could just get Jill Scott to tweet this… #JillScottTitties @mOneyMakinNique

CKENT – Poppa Addy

I know we don’t usually post stuff like this here at reallyaWOLF but do to special circumstances we decided to make an exception. (Those special circumstances being Bezonnian18 told us to. LOL.) Also because this was a somewhat unique concept that we had heard “Trappin for Tuition” made us LOL to something we are all to familiar with. We all know that guy. Usually he’s not so much as trappin’ for tuition as much as he is trappin’ to stay fly while telling Sallie Mae to suck it a getting fly for these college parties. Either way the sentiment is understood. (Just incase the sentiment is not understood Addy is short for Adderall which is used to treat ADHD but many students use as a study aid. IE: the double entendra of “focused on my paper” actually meaning an essay paper and not money this time.) Taking a chance on this one. This could actually turn into something. @CNOTECKENT

Premier: Far Out Family – SpringBreak in the Wintertime feat. Pharoh

Far Out Family is back for day 2 of release off of their upcoming mixtape, PINCKNEY and reallyaWOLF was chosen to premier the second song, “Springbreak in the Wintertime”. This particular audio features verses from Glenn Saddler, Bias the Black, and Pharoh of STNDRD and the beat borrows a sample of Two-9’s Curtis Williams’ song “Face It”. This PINCKNEY is turning out to be a true mixtape in the old since of the word with artist jumping over the production of others with is really dope. Super dope verses from these guys with a spaztastic (yeah we make up words here at reallyaWOLF) verse opener from Pharoh, Bias the Black taking a bit of a different approach than his normal rapid fire flow, and Saddler bringing up the rear to close out with a screw assisted verse! Stay tuned for more music coming all week from these guys! Check out their day one PINCKNEY track , Old Friends, on GreedmontPark.com I’ll definitely be doing a review of PINCKNEY in it’s entirety once all the audio has been released. @FarOutFamily / #PINCKNEY

Rome Fortune – Move Your Body

It’s always fun when Rome come’s around and this time is no different. I think one of the best terms used when describing his flow is infectious allow with his trade mark “I said”. This audio is off of the recently released (and not yet reviewed by us) Drives, Thighs, & Lies EP he created in collaboration with producer Dun Deal. This one looked like lots of fun. I wonder were it was shot cause IT DAMN SURE WASN’T ATLANTA CAUSE HE’S NEVER HERE! (I swear to god I’m going to put a hit out on Mike Boyd if the home town doesn’t get a show by the end of the year.) I mean really! Look how much fun everyone is having! We deserve fun! We deserve nice things! We deserve Rome live! @romefortune

MoneyMakinNique – stevemcqueenburtreynolds feat. Marian Mereba

One thing I have realized about Nique lately is that he definitely has his image down. He has a very cons ice persona that fits his aesthetic very nicely and I love the added touch Mereba brings to the video. So Bonnie & Clyde I love it. I’d be down to watch this and I love the texture that director Jack Stillz chose to employ. S/O to the Money Makin’ Brothers @mOneyMakinNique / @MarianMereba / @JackStillz

Sy Ari Da Kid – Ultrasound 2: The Birth

Now his one caught me kind off guard!

When it comes to Atlanta’s indie hip-hop scene it’s no were near as simple as the signed and the unsigned. Just as hip-hop is you have many sub genres and sub cultures within the scene meaning two artist who may be at the same level and of the same caliber may never run into each other and may have never heard of one another. Different hip-hop sub genres are using completely different networks and plugs to make it into their respective lanes. With this being said Sy Ari was going relatively unnoticed by myself and some others in my immediate vicinity of blogger friends. That all changed extremely fast. The reception for the tape was almost instantaneous throughout the scene and after first listen it is easy to see why. It has an undeny-ability (yeah I made that up) about it. I mean that in saying everything about it is so solid that if you don’t like it you may just not like rap all that much. Da Kid delivers (and I mean DELIVERS) from start to finish. He has that quality that is reserved for the top and the legends in the since that he doesn’t really seem capable of a subpar verse. He’s skilled and seasoned at this. I’m not sure of his back story but what he does on the tracks is what you wish battle rappers could do when people tell them to make an actually song. It has that grit but he can also turn it down with tracks like Popular so everything doesn’t alway feel so rough through out. 300 Spartans being the nail in the coffin for anyone who didn’t think he had enough clout to pull any star power shut up! The project goes HARD and you’re going to be hard pressed to find anyone who thinks otherwise. As a matter of fact I would actually like to hear from someone who has found fault with the tape because I couldn’t imagine what it would be… Really great work Sy Ari and shout out to Schweinbeck for letting us know it’s real. lol. @SyAriDaKid

KasFlow – “green.” (prod. by MadBliss)

Wait! We missed another 420 drop. Probably because we were… never mind anyway we got us a newcomer to the site but not the scene the young man KasFlow. I’ve been seeing his name pop up here and there so I thought it would be cool to show a little love on this laid back 420 inspired audio. I dig this. I would definitely be down to hear more from this guy. I’ve seen him live and he obviously has a little bit of a following. Let’s see if he can mobilize these fans. @KasFlow

Curtis Williams – Danco James (Prod. The Yardeez)

Sit back relax and chill to this nothing a 420 thang audio. Curtis Williams over this super smooth production by The Yardeez goes directly into the smooth playlist by default. It’s just right. I wonder how high a room with these guys and Wiz is? My assumption is very! @thatboycurtis / @two9

P.U.R.E. Conquest of the Irrational feat. Kaedus Hines x Caps

Ravens in the building! P.U.R.E. comes with brother in arms Kaedus Hines for literal lyrical onslaught. Add in the Raven Caps for good measure. This shxt right here nxxxa this shxt right Here! Crazy! Raven Corps is shaping up to be a RAP crew along the likes of Wu-Tang / Pro Era! And I can’t wait to see this crew live! This is one off of P.U.R.E.’s up coming Omlette Du Homage project. If the project ends up sounding anything like this then we have another one waiting to go into rotation. @JaceMythic / @KaedusHines / @RavenCorps

Plewto Smith – Spiffy

The Raven Corps affiliated Plewto Smith brings us the thatsClassik Clothing sponsored Spiffy. Plewto Smith was a relatively unknown in the scene before just recently as his star has been rising & with a listen to Spiffy you can definitely see why. His recent drop of the Clayco single produced by Wino Willy has definitely aided the anticipation of the drop along with his energetic performance. (last show I attended he trough candy into the crowd) With a first listen it reminded me of early Outkast. Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik / ATLien era. It’s smooth but has a definite constant flow along with Smith’s surprising vocal range early on. This is definitely entering the rotation. I has the all to rare “press play and let it stay” quality that to many project of recent memory are lacking. This is for sure a must listen. Hypebeast going in. S/O the thatsClassik & Raven Corps establishments. @PlewtoSmith
