Wara from the NBHD – 98 Rocafella (Dir. Wes Sherwin)

Wara brought the whole crew down to the Dojo for this one. I feel like we are keeping with a New York theme with these last 2 posts. I really dig this one. It almost reminds me of a toned down version of earlier Busta Rhymes visuals. Maybe a little less toony but still with a feel that is not the casual day in the life visuals most artist tend to go for. It looks to me to have a little Tarantino maybe Wes Anderson feel in this one. Not completely sure I’m not a true film buff. My only criticism is I wish it was longer. Maybe a little hand to hand. It just seems like it’s over so quickly but maybe that a testament to how entertaining Larry and Left Hand Mitch are. Nice work Wes Sherwin. S/O to the Playin’ For Keeps crew. @warafromthenbhd / @larry_marcel / @LEFTHANDMITCH

JID – Para Tu

And here JID out of the Spillage Village gate with Para Tu. JID has been making his rounds in the city and hitting stages for a little second. Careful putting this young one on stage before you at a show less he may still your shine.(we’ve seen it happen) Yeah they boy goes hard in the paint. For us one of his biggest talents seems to be his ability to change styles and levels of aggression seemingly mid bar. To make a lazy comparison it’s almost as if Cali asked the question “Kendrick Lamar?” and Atlanta answered back “JID”. I’m not saying JID is the next Kendrick or anything like that just an observation that we are looking at a similar skill set here. You really don’t need to get to far into Para Tu to realize that EarthGang don’t run with no chump and by not to far I mean track 1. Para Tu is basically JID rapping and even though he has released projects before this this one feels like a new coming out while at the same time feeling like only a sample. Definitely enjoyed this romp but I would like to see JID attack a larger concept possibly. Maybe a little storytelling? Maybe a little concept? Something for the hardcore fans to dangle over the head of the average listener. S/O to the whole Spillage Village ensemble @SlickSixJid / @EarthGang

FatKidsBrotha – Pusha

Is that a Neptunes sample? A Clipse sample? Is that the reason for the title? All these questions and more. On next weeks episode after the boys drop Eastside Paradise 2. They dropped these two videos in quick succession. I thought that was a really dope way to do things. It’s give this push leading up to the project release a real “take over” feel. TheCoolisMac #UTD2013 Ft. Quentin Miller (dir. Mario Kristian)

TheCoolisMac ft. Quentin Miller “#UTD2K13” from Mario Kristian on Vimeo. Can these dudes please for a hip-hop duo already! No but seriously really pumped they put a video out for this one. The hilarity that ensues when these two come together. It really does seem like that had fun making and shooting this thing. If I’m not mistaken his is the first single off of Mac’s Underground Grammy which has been very hush until now. Everyone knew it was coming out but no one knew anything about it. (except us… we got wolves out there shhh…) Can’t wait to hear more. Much props to the homie director Mario Kristian. Love those Waffle House shots! S/O to the whole Born Rich & Cool Club tandem. SideNote: Underground Grammy listening session @ Threads on 1060 Charles Ave. Atlanta, Ga. 30306 on 11/14 @TheCoolisMac / @Quentin__Miller / @MarioKristian

Far Out Family – NEWATLISH

NewATLish SA 22So the FartherOut.com boys are at it again bucking the system with the audio for NEWATLISH. It’s the official audio for the song we saw these guys perform earlier this year on indieATL. Definitely some smooth production on this one with The Living crooning on the guitar. Cruise music which I’m sure we’ll be getting more of seeing as how the boys have decided to release something new for us every #FARday (Friday). Both guys dead both verses on this and bring the content that they are known for. Definitely the kind of shit we like to see in the scene. As much dope music that floats around in the A it’s nice every once in a while when someone actually says some shit so word up to that. Looking forward to the Declaration of Independence definitely. @FarOutFamily / @BiastheBlack / @glennsaddler / @_theliving_

Bonnie Bordeaux – Peep Show

Broaden your scope for a minute we’re stepping out of the rap realm again. We got a songstress for y’all in miss Bonnie Bordeaux. She’s giving us the first visual to her project The Damsel Diaries with the single Peep Show. I can dig this shit. It reminds me of the words of a blogger I read long ago “it sounds like something you heard before but nothing you heard before.” I was put onto her by fellow culture Blogger ALLIExpereince so I new it was worth a listen. But really though the project’s dope I can definitely see her becoming a little Atlanta staple in the scene amongst the other must have songstresses the ATL populous utilizes for the added melody to their projects. Most def give the project a listen. I’m loving my city right now! SideNote: Did you peep the little Bias the Black cameo as the guitarist?! That boy a fool! LOL!

Money Makin’ Nique – Guyana Gold

artworks-000059252837-u5tyxm-t500x500 Alright boys and girls we got the Lion King Money Makin’ Nique in the building with the new project Guyana Gold and let me go ahead and preface this. This is NSFW you feel me?! I’m being all the way real with you guys and when I’m telling you that that parental advisory warning on the cover of this project is not to be taken lightly. Some of these lyrics are not for everybody you feel me? I mean this shit get graphic! If you know Nique then you know what’s up. Nique comes with that aggressive. Unapologetic. Get slapped. Have a biscuit. Getcho bitch took. Shit. Have nice day rap. Nique’s rapping prowess is prevalent track to track but it’s really on things like Funny Guy when he changes it up that show off real skill. With that being said for me that wasn’t the best part of the project. The best moment on the project for me comes at the very end. As real as it seems he is through out the work nothing is realer than Roaches & Divine Murder in which he points a finger at project posers who claim hood life but have never “put(in) cereal in the fridges so roaches can’t get in.” The line literally made me say DAMN out loud. It was to real. These are the kind of moments I really want to see more from some of these artist in our scene but that kind of truth and vulnerability is rare. Especially in a money maker. subCONSCIOUS – The Gift

artworks-000057910485-muziam-t500x500 First post of the young men known as subCONSCIOUS (or SBCNCS as they like to yell at shows). With them making their rounds in the city lately I thought it was about time to show the boys some love. The Gift appears to be a collaborative efforts of SBCNCS & the producer/DJ Wino Willy and if you know anything about either this is kind of a no brainer. This collab was bound to happen. And if you know anything about either then you should know what you are in for. #BARS This is rap. If rap had a classical style this would be it. One of the novelties of the project is it’s raw feel. From the cover to the sound it just feels raw. Like a peek into a session. Really looking forward to hearing more from these guys. Also check out their first project that dropped earlier this year HERE. @sbCNCS / @ShalomLittle / @JaceMythic / @KaedusEoE / @Black_ChinaKid

Scotty – Fuss N Fight ft. Lecrea

Earlier today Scotty tweeted “we gotta do betta. im including myself in dat statement” and I think that’s what he’s trying to do in releasing Fuss N Fight visuals from the acclaimed FAITH project. Heavy visuals for this one and something that we have all seen. We all have those friends who want the quick financial gratification but haven’t thought things through thoroughly. Of course this being worst case scenario. I would like to take this time out to make a statement about the boy Scotty. While on a little road trip the other day I was in the car and some how we got on the subject of what it’s like meeting peers in the scene. Everyone has there horror stories. “This guy is stuck up” “that dude didn’t say thank you when I told him I was his biggest fan” and the list goes on & on for dang near every artist in the A. Expect for Scotty. Every time I or anyone I know runs across this guy they have nothing but good things to say about him and this I believe is a big factor of what is pushing him forward. He is incredibly humble (even if he boast as though he isn’t). S/O to the Cool Club & A Color Brown Shot SideNote: Anyone catch TheCoolisMac as the shooter? That pinky ring though! @ScottyATL / @Lecrea / @thecoolismac
