Far Out Family – Declaration of Independence

All rise for the Far Out Family and their Declaration of Independence. Where do I even start with this one with out getting long winded. Pure art. It’s almost genre bending. One thing I really dig about the piece in general is it’s musicality. It’s rare that you have to rappers this lyrically capable that don’t decide to completely verbally destroy every track but instead decide to make dope music. Glenn Saddler & Bias the Black really deliver something special that sounds nothing like anything one the scene. Love the Alkebulan feature it slides in perfectly without disrupting the chemistry. The album has a nice rise to it as well. Starting of much much chill and rising into a really eruption which bring me to my other point in how the album artwork really does look like the album sounds. Also having the Little Miss Sunshine, Amestad, & Metal Gear Solid dialogue as the intro, interlude, & outro are just awesome. It really has an NERD quality if I could make the comparison. One thing that it shows is adept diversity. Once your about 6 track into the 10 track project you really have no idea what the next song is going to sound like. As soon as you peg them for alternative artist it revert back to almost trap rap which then makes another jump into rock when you could have sworn three songs ago you may have been listening to a pop album. And it all flows smoothly. Nice work guys. S/O to the whole Far Out Family SideNote: Be on the look out for their Pinckney project which will be released soon which features the recently released BUZZCUT. @FarOutFamily / @glennsaddler / @BiastheBlack / @_TheLiving_ / @EuweiSTNMTN

Rome Fortune – Beautiful Pimp 2

Rome is back! Controversial cover and all. Okay one thing I love about this is all the production is handled by one producer CitoOnTheBeat. I just like the idea of two people molding a project together and not producers just sending over beats. As you would expect Rome is a producers dream. He does exactly what is needed to be impressive while at the same time not outshining the production. You equally enjoy both. Another thing I would like to point out is how Rome’s music even in a single song seem to fit multiple purposes. Tracks seem to fit your mood. A track that seems happy on the first listen can seem melancholy on the second or one that seems like a downer quickly becomes an upper if heard in a room full of people. Another stand out thing is the no features thing. I always point out when speaking on Rome that although an Atlanta native he seems to always be out of state which would lead me to believe that this project may have been recorded in either New York or LA. I wonder if his on the move lifestyle had anything to do with the decision or was it purely artistic. Basically the way I feel is that either way I enjoyed the decision. Rome’s voice along with the beat is so melodic at times that I almost feel as though a feature would kick you out of the dream (Inception reference) so to speak. Thumbs up all around from us on this one. S/O to Rome and his whole Cowboy Pimpin’ family @romefortune

FatKidsBrotha – Discreet (Dir. Gunner Stahl)

Quick dope visual FatKidsBrotha’s Discreet off of the recently released Eastside Paradise 2. The DOMHELLAKID$ portion in the middle was hilarious “I had to get a ride from my baby momma… naw not that one… naw not that one.” priceless. S/O Two9 @FAT_KIDS_BROTHA

Spillage Village – Bears Like This

tumblr_n0kxheVGk31qi49mwo1_1280Words from the Spillage Village. This project gets right to it which I though would be a must for the six track project until about halfway in. Contrary to it’s track count it actually seems quite full for this audio which clocks in at a little over 30 min. I believe one reason for this is the cast. Spillage Village consists of EARTHGANG, J.I.D., JordxnBryant, and Hollywood JB. We are quite familiar with the first two but not so much with the later but we did assume (and with good reason) that if they were anything like these guys they would be anything but boring. We we’re very pleasantly surprised that they could hold there own with their lyrically nimble counter parts and with the added backing from miss Marian Mereba & Shelanese (Who I assumed was a hostess) the whole tape seemed full and bare at any moment. Smooth and fun are the words I use to describe this one. Even with many of the serious and introspective tones some of the music may take you always end up finding your self giggling at a witty line or character driven inflection. Go ahead and put this one in the rotation. Bears like this and so do wolves! And we’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for JordxnBryant & Hollywood JB from now on. @EarthGang / @SlickSixJID / @Hollywood_JB / @JordxnBryant

Rome Fortune – “I was on one, I can’t lie” (Dir. Goodwin)

Rome Fortune really did with this one. I literally enjoyed myself watching that. This really has made me even more excited for Beautiful Pimp 2. I really do wish he would do more shows in Atlanta even though I understand why he doesn’t. I just feel like it would go over so well. This music has a “singalongability” to it that would just be awesome once people know the words. I kind of hope this catches on as the new party music. And can we give it up to Goodwin on this one? I mean he really just tuck his foot deep down in this video! Kudos sir! S/O to Cowboy Pimpin’ @romefortune

Far Out Family – BUZZCUT

Just Awesome! I really dig this like a lot! A quick flow from the boys at FartherOut.com which doesn’t even seem to be coming out on their up coming Declaration of Independence project but on a completely different one calling Pinckney. I’m assuming Pinckney will be more of a mixtape just do to the fact that the beat is a cut from Rome Fortunes’s Balcony off of the Beautiful Pimp project. What can I say you got the boy Glenn Saddler first with the distorted voice, Bias the Black coming in second just destroying the second verse, Rome Fortune’s Balcony to rap over and the chainsaw scene from American Psycho coming of what I assume to be a projector! It’s just all around dope-ness. S/O to the Far Out Family and the Raven Corps for good measure. @FarOutFamily / @glennsaddler / @BiastheBlack

Alexis Glenn – Be Wary (ALLIExperience.com)

Taken from our friends at ALLIExperience Alexis Glenn dropped her first single from the EP – Irrational Illustrations at Heart. The fan favorite track, “Be Wary” is witten by Alexis Glenn and produce by Kebu. Video by Sean Kelly. I’m really digging this one yall. “This is the story of when we as humans depend on love to keep and make us happy, when at the of the day, only you can keep you happy”, says Alexis. “At times we are looking for love to save us, but ultimately only you can save you.” I’d like to add that knowing the young girls story adds wait to every song. Love the visual. S/O to her and the whole Black Klan family @Lexin8or Click HERE for our run down of her project Irrational Illustration At Heart.

Lyftd Clothing Co. – Late Winter Release

So we got a little sneak peek at Lyftd’s late Winter release slated to drop Feb. 7th along with the new site. livelifelyftd.com I really can’t wait to see what the what else they have in store for this release. It’ll also be available to the masses for the first time I’m being told. No more tracking these guys down or having to get the special order. SideNote: Is that Zip Kennedy? If so dope choice and I’d like to say this about branding when it comes to some of these Atlanta clothing lines. I’ve seen many lines collaborating with the hottest artist with no real thought behind if the artist actually coincides with the brand. Shout out to the Lyftd guys for going with a more forward thinking artist who actually seem fit the image of the line. Here’s to hoping they keep that in mind when it comes to future collaborations and what not. @Lyftd

Chiiirp – Constantine

Back to back Chiiirp! So it seems as though this video is a 1 of 3, with The Dope being the first, of this artistic trinity. Or maybe I’m wrong and just guessing. The collective she has named the Beautifully Grotesque Art Performance piece. This is really interesting. I can’t wait to see the third. I wonder if they tie in together in any way. I know she has cited Marilyn Manson as an inspiration and he is well known for stringing together the story lines of his projects. Dopeness Chiiirp. Can’t wait to see how this all ends. @SmokingVapors

Chiiirp – The Dope

I expect nothing less from Chiiirp. Art. What I really like about the visual is the fact that you get to see Chiiirp. The real Chiiirp. Something that you don’t necessarily hear when listening to audio. Of the few times I’ve run across the young artist I always felt like she transformed on stage. Once off stage she turn back into “human” Chiiirp. Sometimes listening to audio you don’t get to see the human Chiiirp only “beast” Chiiirp, if that makes since. So I like the idea of her speaking first before the actual “The Dope” audio begins to play. If you dig the visual go check her out in person. It’s always a good time. Dope shit young one. But you already said that… @SmokingVapors
